The Healthy Me Programme
Healthy Me is a health and wellbeing initiative developed by North Lincolnshire Council’s Public Health Team.
The programme supports and encourages schools, early years settings, and colleges to become health-promoting environments and partners in developing health literacy - a vital tool for preventing ill-health. By improving health literacy, we aim to equip children, families, and the wider community with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make positive choices and live healthier lives.
Our Five Key Areas
Healthy Me focuses on five essential aspects of health and wellbeing:
1. Healthy Body – Promoting regular physical activity, nutritious food choices, and positive lifestyle habits.
2. Healthy Mind – supporting positive mental health and emotional wellbeing in safe, nurturing environments.
3. Healthy Relationships – Building respectful, supportive, and positive connections with others.
4. Healthy Environment – Embedding sustainability and eco-friendly practices to protect and enhance our surroundings.
5. Healthy Workforce – Supporting the wellbeing, development, and motivation of staff to promote a thriving workforce.
How the Programme Works
Healthy Me helps schools, early years providers, and further education settings to:
Identify key areas of focus for health and wellbeing. Healthy Me supports settings to reflect on current practice and to identify key focuses of work. Through self-assessment tools and data insights, staff can pinpoint strengths and areas for improvement across the five key themes of work (body, mind, relationships, environment, and workforce). This targeted approach ensures that plans of action are relevant, impactful and tailored to the unique needs of children, young people, staff and the wider community.
Take practical actions that make a real difference. Once priorities are identified, Healthy Me offers guidance, support and resources to turn ideas and plans into meaningful action. From implementing healthy eating and physical initiatives to developing mental health ambassadors or embedding eco-friendly practices, schools and settings are empowered to make tangible changes. These actions are designed to be achievable, sustainable, and embedded into everyday routines, creating a lasting positive impact on health and wellbeing.
Gain recognition and celebration for their achievements. Healthy Me celebrates the efforts and successes of schools and settings through a structured awards framework. Recognition not only highlights the commitment and progress made but also motivates continued improvement. By showcasing achievements, schools and settings can inspire their community, share best practices, and demonstrate the tangible benefits of creating a health-promoting environment for children, young people, families and staff.
To help achieve this, Healthy Me will act as a single point of access to consistent and trusted information. This will include a comprehensive digital platform to support schools and settings by providing access to:
1. Health data and information
2. An engaging and easy to complete self-assessment tool
3. An awards framework to recognise progress
4. Quality assured resources and toolkits
5. Training and CPD opportunities
6. A directory to assured partners and services
Through Healthy Me, we are dedicated to helping schools and settings develop health-enabling environments, ensuring children and young people in North Lincolnshire are equipped to lead healthy and happy lives.
